Kick Scooters for the Adult Set Customer Review
63Maybe some of you remember pushing your kick scooter through neighborhood streets back in the good ole’ days. Maybe you feel jealousy pangs when you see packs of kids scootering through town as you get off work. Wouldn’t it be incredible to have that same feeling zipping home on your daily commute, feeling the wind through your hair and the cracks in the sidewalk? Wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to forget stinky buses and crowded metros and hours and hours of road raging traffic? Wouldn’t it be fantastic to rediscover the kid in you and enjoy those precious moments you have away from work, from your spouse or from your demanding cat, flying at the speed your legs and a pair of wheels can carry you?
Daydream no further! There are several brand name designers that are making kick scooters in adult sizes, which are durable and practical for the daily commute. They are more attractive too, taking on a sleek sharpness while maintaining that playful free style. And we’re not talking about the scooters you’ve seen bopping through city streets ridden by some dorky finance guy in a suit looking like he stole it from a kid down the street. Today’s new scooters will make even the most sophisticated mogul feel like they’re scooting in style.
The new and improved scooter designs are targeting commuters with four main features: Bigger, rubber wheels for a better, faster ride; longer deck length for comfortable glides; convenient, adult-height handle bars; and chic (dare we say sexy?) style. As far as specifications go in comparison with the child’s Razor scooter, Razors have 100mm wheels, 13 inch boards, and a handlebar height of about 28 inches. Xootr or GoPed scooters, brands that have taken to making scooters for adults, have tired wheels over 150mm, 24 inch boards, and a handlebar height of from 35 to 38 inches. In short, today’s scooters are taking the toy from your childhood and turning into a commute machine.
Don’t be afraid of any sort of stereotypes surrounding scooting to work. These new designs are purposely made to cater to the style-conscious executive who’s tired of rumpling her power skirt in bus and metro seats. The urban adult is going to love the convenience. And did we mention it folds up in under 10 seconds and can be easily carried with its own carrying strap? I don’t even think George Jetson could bet that.
